After the piece dries and is fired the first time, it is dipped in a white chalk coating, over which the design is applied entirely by hand with lead-free mineral glazes; the piece is then fired again to convey the colors of the various minerals.

Each of these figurines is entirely made by hand (originally by felting and then on the potter's wheel, piece by piece). After drying in the sun, like a biscuit, they are fired and then painted.
